On the trail


  • Baxter State Park: Home of Mount Katahdin, the highest mountain in Maine, and the northern end of the Appalachian Trail. 
  • Acadia National Park: Bike the 45 miles of carriage trails, swim off of the pristine Sand Beach, or hike Cadillac Mountain to be the first person to view the sunrise on the East Coast. 
  • Northern Maine Woods: Want a truly remote experience in the wilderness? Head up north to paddle the Allagash River, see lots of wildlife, and more! 
  • Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument: Created in 2016, explore to these lands and rivers east of Baxter State Park. 
  • Forests for Maine's Future: Before your trip read more here about the forests that cover Maine. 
  • Maine Sport Outfitters​: A small outdoor clothing and gear store located in Rockport, Maine. A great spot to fill last minute adventure needs and/or rent gear!

Midcoast Maine has a strong marine tradition. There are lots of options to get out on the water. Here are some favorites:

Camden Area restaurants: 
  • ​​McLoon's Lobster Shack: One of the best lobster rolls around. Located in Spruce Head Island. 
  • ​Miller's Lobsters: Great local spot for a lobster dinner or a lobster roll. 
  • ​Long Grain: Incredible "locavore Asian restaurant." 
  • Shuck Station: Perfect place to try the best of Maine oysters. 
  • Rhumb Line: Our go-to place for fish tacos. Harbor side dining.
  • Home Kitchen Cafe: Tasty breakfast and lunch spot. 
  • Primo: True farm to table dining.  
  • ​Nebo Lodge: ​High end bed and breakfast and restaurant on North Haven. 

Portland Area restaurants: 
  • ​Fore Street: Go eat James Beard award winner Chef Sam Hayward's food! 
  • ​Street & Company: Elegant seafood restaurant.
