E-Bikes will be there to meet you! Take them onboard for the one hour and fifteen minute ferry ride to Carver’s Harbor on Vinalhaven. Once off the ferry, we will head via bike to Brown’s Head Light for lunch. While there, head down to the shore to see evidence of volcanic ash droplets called lapilli. Then, heading south, we will visit two to three other sites with evidence of ancient volcanic activity. If open, we will visit a working stone cutter. We will then head back to the ferry terminal for our trip back to the mainland. Trip returns to Rockland by 4:30pm in time for a nice dinner on your own in the area. This trip is filled with breathtaking views of Penobscot Bay (weather permitting), geology information, history of Maine, and physical exercise. A great combination!
